Our first day went well! I really enjoyed beginning to get to know your children! It is a kind group. I look forward to our year together.
I gave homework to the parents…..all the paperwork that the office requires this time of year! I know it is a pain, but we really appreciate the information, and are required to redo it yearly. Parents of children new to the district, you do not need to repeat registration that you already filled out this year!
We established rules, reviewed procedures, learned about each other, did a little free reading, and took a math assessment (for my planning purposes only), and did a little art yesterday.
Today we will review some strategies that good readers use. We will also set up our 3 ring binders with all the dividers. We will take a spelling test (also for planning purposes).
In math we are going to do some work on estimation, using building cubes, and also play a game of BINGO which involves adding and subtracting by groups of ten. We will begin to discuss the concept of what a scientist is.
We will begin homework NEXT week as we are just using this week to get used to being back in school.
