Students will have both math and reading homework starting today. Homework will be behind the appropriate section in their binder. Homework should be circled on their assignment sheet as well, as a reminder to them.
During class meeting last Friday the class voted that if a student receives 5 or more red hands they will write a letter to their parents. Students receive a red hand for a rule infraction. We will see how that goes this week and discuss it again this next Friday.
In reading today we will be reading about penguins with a buddy. Homework this week is to read outside of school for a minimum of 60 minutes. Students record this time and parents sign at the end of the week. Logs are turned in the following Monday.
In writing students will be writing to me about what kind of student they are: strengths and weeknesses, etc.
In math we will continue to work on concepts of 100, as well as set up our homework for the week. Each night students will have a white sheet of addition or subtraction or multiplication to complete. It is due the next day. In addition they will have a colored sheet (this week is pink) and another white sheet where they do a section a night. We will label them so that the students know what to do each night. On Fridays there will be a test over the concepts that they worked on during the week from the colored sheet. The pink and second white sheet are due on Fridays. It seems confusing at first, but student will quickly learn what is due when.
Students will have music for the first time today.
In science we will learn how to write up an experiment form, plus we will read some more about penguins.
There is a parent letter in your child’s mailbox for you from me. I didn’t try to hand it out earlier due to all the other paperwork last week. Have a great week. If you have any questions, give me a call.
