Both the blue reading log and greeen assignment sheet are to be signed sometime this weekend if you haven’t already done so. The signature on the blue reading log lets me know that the student did read the amount listed. I ask for a signature on the student’s assignment sheet because it lets the child know that we are on the same page, working together, and that you know what they are doing in school. As an incentive to have the child be responsible and remind you to sign them, the students receive a little extra recess on Monday (Tuesday this week) when both sheets are filled out and signed.
We are going to tune in to the Presidental Address to students on Tuesday. The more people we can have encouraging young people to do their best in school the better. What a powerful message to have it come from the president of our country. If, however, you do not want to have your child listen to this message, let me know, and I can make arrangements for them to go elsewhere. You may also come and watch with your child if you wish. It is Tuesday at 9:00.
Today we will work on using an index in reading. In writing we will continue to do self-selected writing along with our DOL (daily oral language). There is no homework over the weekend !
In math we will take a homework test. We will also continue to take the rest of the CBM computation math tests. We will check our ocean water to see if any has evaporated.
Gabe is our student of the week. I look forward to learning more about him. We will also have our weekly class meeting.
Have a great three day weekend!
