Multiplying Fractions:
- Change mixed numbers to improper fractions
- Cross cancel when possible
- Multiply across the top and multiply across the bottom
- Simplify if possible
Dividing Fractions:
- Change to multiplication by flipping the 2nd fraction (reciprocal)
- Follow multiplication steps
Adding & Subtracting Fractions:
- Rewrite fractions with common denominators
- Rewrite mixed numbers as improper fractions
- Add/Subtract top (numerator) numbers – denominators stay the same
- Simplify when possible
- Remember to keep track of negative signs!

Welcome to the new school year and welcome to Mr. Wayenberg’s Website. Be sure to bookmark this site so you can access information throughout the year. You can also get to my website by going to the Deer Park Middle School website and clicking on the link next to my name in the staff listing.
Look for the appropriate class in the list of links to the right. Each class will have an assignment calendar posted so you can keep track of daily assignments. This is also a useful tool if a student is absent, so the student can access the homework they are missing from home.

Phone calls are also welcome, but keep in mind that during school hours you will not be able to speak directly to me, but will need to leave a message on my email.
