Masters of Multiplication

Today was the fact test to determine who has met the goal of 90% accuracy in three minutes of time. Congratulations to those Masters of Multiplication and don’t forget to bring whipped cream so you can go to the head of the line for the sundae party on Friday.

In Science today you began your test on food and nutrition. We’ll finish tomorrow and work on your portfolio.

In Math you did MA7 - the mid-chapter quiz on page 161. Fix papers if you can!

In Reading you did the “Quiz Time” and “Big Idea” for Scholastic News - Extra! Extra!.

We’ll be going to the book fair during 1st period!

Science Test Tomorrow

In Science today we reviewed for the test you are going to take tomorrow. Study your notebook.

In Math today we added and subtracted decimals. Your assignment was MA6 - book p. 159 #14-36 (even) and for extra credit #37 - 43. STUDY FOR THE FACT TEST TOMORROW! You can go to the math page of this website for lots of resources.

In Reading we practiced fluency and read Ch. 10 of Bridge to Terabithia. You answered six questions in your journal.

Wrapping up Food & Nutrition

The Science unit we have been working on since early October is wrapping up. We will review for our test tomorrow. The test will be Wednesday and part of Thursday. Be sure to study your science notebook and review the great amount of work you did in it!

In Math many of you are fixing papers. We took a quiz today on the decimal skills we’ve been working with in this chapter. Your task today was to do p. 155, working with decimal models.

In Reading you were introduced to fluency partners. You will practice reading fluently for a few minutes to begin class each morning. Keep working on completing novels, book reviews, and quizzes. We’ll be creating our catepillar wall with the number of words you’ve read so far this year! Remember you’re shooting for 1 million words!!

In Science today we analyzed the lunch you created. We looked at how the energy stored in foods is measured in calories, and that these are found in proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

In Math we worked with estimation. Your assignment was MA5 - WS 3.4.

In Reading we finished the story “Do or Die!” and you answered questions in your journal.

Nutrients in Food

Today in Science you tried to figure out 20 foods from their ingredients list. Then you analyzed the ingredients to see how many were fats, sugars, and acids.

In Math today we rounded decimals. Your assignment was MA4 - practice WS 3-3. Remember to fix papers if you can (even if you only have one problem left!!).

Get your HOME READING RECORD and your CURRENT GRADES signed, and your CONFERENCE SLIP initialed.

In Reading we worked with the first part of the epic myth “Do or Die”.

In Science today we did the wrap-up for our tests with indophenol and vitamin-C. Spell indophenol to me without looking on Thursday for coupons.

In Math we compared and ordered decimals. Your assignment was MA3 - p. 144 #8-30 (even). You can also do the H.O.T. problems for extra credit. Many of you wanted to fix little mistakes you made on MA2.

In Reading we read Ch. 9 of Bridge to Terabithia and you wrote two “SWBS’s” in your reading journal.

Get your report card signed and have your parents complete the conference-time slip for your student-led conference. Return them both on Thursday for coupons (or at least by Friday!)

Ascorbic Acid

In Science today we examined nine different juices to determine the amount of ascorbic acid each contained. Ascorbic acid has a common name. Tell your parents what it is and receive coupons!!

In Math we worked with decimal place value. You wrote numbers in word form, expanded form, and standard form. Your assignment was MA2 - Practice WS 3-1. GET YOUR POINT CHART SIGNED IF YOU DIDN’T ALREADY!!

In Reading you did Wildside story #8 - “Race Through the Sand.” We will discuss it tomorrow.

1st Quarter Yellow Slip Party

Today you got to enjoy your first yellow slip party (or not)! Hopefully it will give you even more incentive not to get yellow slips in the future!!

In Math today you presented your projects if they were done. Monday is the last day to present. You also put together your Ch. 2 packet. It needs to be SIGNED and returned on Monday. Finally you did MA1 - the Quick Quiz for Ch. 3.

In Reading you completed a Scholastic News about the Cherokee language. It’s due on Monday.
